Travel Lust: Istanbul

Istanbul, Turkey. The only city in the world that resides on two continents- both Europe and Asia.

This now booming metropolis once served as the capital of the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires and dates back to hundreds of years before Christ. Even if you're no history buff, you can't help but be in awe  of the city's impressive past.

You have probably heard of the Hagia Sophia. Now a museum, this beautiful building began as an Orthodox church and was later repurposed as a mosque.
There is also the stately Blue Mosque. Dating from the 17th century, this mosque is still in use today.
The Rumeli Fortress, dating back to the 15th century is breathtaking with its views over the water. Its amphitheater is used during the summer for performances.
I would definitely have to stop by a Turkish bath and enjoy the luxury of a massage!
And how could I not enjoy a doner kebab in the country of its origin?
Istanbul is a stunning city full of ancient treasures, and I'm sure good food.  Maybe some day I will see for myself!

Have you been to Turkey? What did you think?
